Shopping:
There are a number of small shops along the streets that sell antiques, lace and souvenirs. In some lace shops you can even see the lace being made. Traditional Sri Lankan arts and crafts such as paintings and hand painted show pieces can be found down Pedlar Street. At the Galle Fort you can pick up Batiks, leather gods and spices. The Gingota Silk Factory has on sale some of the highest quality silk that you can find within Galle. For lace, there is the Shoba Display Gallery, which teaches women various crafts. You can pop in here to see the process of producing lace and if interested can buy some for yourself. |
